Umay Theater
在這座曾經的酒廠裡，「跨界實驗室」將烏梅劇院轉化為一座向觀眾開放的實驗場域。一場跨界演出，從學習與交流開始，走向合作與打磨，如同釀造般慢慢成形。我們集結不同藝術形式、語言與文化背景的創作者，激盪新的創意可能，並逐步發展為一場表演。
今年邀請布袋戲、歌仔戲、客家八音的創作者開設工作坊，也邀集十位漫畫家與插畫家進行即興創作，讓跨界的想像在現場自然發生。歡迎你一同走進創作的過程。
In this former distillery, the “Cross-disciplinary Lab” transforms the Umay Theatre into an open experimental space for audiences. A cross-disciplinary performance begins with learning and exchange, evolving through collaboration and refinement—slowly taking shape like a process of brewing. Bringing together creators from different artistic forms, languages, and cultural backgrounds, the program sparks new ideas that gradually develop into a performance.
This year, artists from glove puppetry, Taiwanese opera, and Hakka Bayin are invited to lead workshops, alongside ten comic artists and illustrators engaging in live improvisation. Here, cross-disciplinary ideas unfold in real time—and you are invited to step into the creative process.

從「全世界巡演最多次的戲曲—扮仙」開始，帶你走進布袋戲後場的聲音現場。這場工作坊將解構一齣戲中偶師、武場（節奏）與文場（旋律）之間的三角關係，帶你看懂箇中巧妙。
長義閣掌中劇團，來自嘉義，傳承四代，臺灣僅存擁有「獨立」後場的布袋戲劇團之一。透過史料田調建立在地史觀，以「傳統」為劍，劃開框架，建立長義閣特有的敘事語言，保有傳統元素之餘，亦能持續創新。
Starting with Bànxiān, one of the most widely performed theatrical forms in the world, this workshop takes you into the sonic world behind Taiwanese glove puppetry. It unpacks the triangular relationship between the puppeteer, the wuchang (percussion/rhythm section), and the wenchang (melodic section), revealing the subtle dynamics that bring a performance to life.
Chang Yi Ge Puppet Troupe, based in Chiayi and now in its fourth generation, is one of the few remaining puppetry troupes in Taiwan with an independent backstage ensemble. Through archival research, fieldwork, and theatrical interpretation, their works reconstruct local histories and develop a distinct narrative language. Rooted in tradition yet open to innovation, they continue to push the boundaries of contemporary puppetry.

客家八音是客庄生活的聲音風景，婚喪喜慶無處不在。這個工作坊要帶你它巧妙的演奏特色，也邀請好日樂團主唱憶慈一起來與八音團團長佐京聊聊：年輕人怎麼看傳統藝術的再創。
佐京，本名彭峻暘 aka 全台最年輕的八音團團長，1993年出生於新竹北埔。因從小跟著阿公看戲，對於傳統文化有著很深的親切感。有感於樂師凋零，2019年成立「新竹北埔客家八音團」，不只傳承，他也曾與爵士樂、音樂人黃子軒合作演出。
Hakka Bayin is the soundscape of Hakka communities, present in weddings, funerals, and everyday rituals. This workshop introduces its distinctive performance techniques and invites Yizy, lead vocalist of HoNi Band, to join Bayin ensemble leader Zuo Jing in a conversation on how younger generations approach the reinterpretation of traditional arts.
Zuo Jing, one of Taiwan’s youngest Bayin ensemble leaders, was born in Beipu, Hsinchu, in 1993. Growing up accompanying his grandfather to traditional performances, he developed a deep connection to temple culture and folk theatre. In response to the decline of traditional musicians, he founded the Hsinchu Beipu Hakka Bayin Ensemble in 2019. Beyond preservation, he actively explores cross-genre collaborations, including projects with jazz musicians and Hakka artist ZiXuan & Slow Train.

克里夫，台灣人，唱遍島嶼大大小小的角落，曾於花東駐村。
陳群懿，新加坡人，成長過程中遷徙於中國、美國到今日定居的加拿大。
悅基，加拿大人，父母分別來自馬來西亞與香港，他曾在北美與亞洲之間流動。
在某個年紀，因為遷徙，有了人生階段的記憶與轉折。在這40分鐘裡，他們要用音樂分享移動的過程，也彼此回應。
Cliff, from Taiwan, has performed across the island and was once an artist-in-residence in Hualien–Taitung.
Chinyi C, from Singapore, grew up moving between China and the United States, and now resides in Canada.
Eunice Keitan, from Canada, has roots in Malaysia and Hong Kong, and has lived between North America and Asia.
At different stages of their lives, movement has marked turning points and shaped their identities. In this 40-minute performance, they share these journeys through music, responding to one another in real time.

從你可能熟悉的「七字調」出發，帶你認識歌仔戲多樣的曲調與變化。除了老師開講外，他也帶來傳統曲譜，要與加拿大音樂人交流切磋，探索跨界合作的可能。
林顯源，國立臺灣戲曲學院研發長，10歲習京劇，主修旦角。1990年拜廖瓊枝為師，學習台灣歌仔戲，是廖瓊枝「薪傳」創始暨第一代弟子。他是跨界學習的愛好者，曾與印尼藝術家共演，也帶著戲曲學院學生赴歐洲交流。
Starting from the familiar Qizi Diao, this workshop introduces the diverse melodic styles of Taiwanese opera. Led by Audia Shean Yuan Lin, the session will also bring in traditional scores for exchange with Canadian musicians, exploring possibilities for cross-disciplinary collaboration and looking toward a future co-created performance.
Audia Shean Yuan Lin, Director of Research and Development at the National Taiwan College of Performing Arts, began training in Peking Opera at the age of 10, specializing in dan (female roles). In 1990, he became a disciple of Chiung-Chih Liao and has since devoted himself to Taiwanese opera as part of the inaugural generation of the “Legacy Transmission” program. He is dedicated to cross-disciplinary exchange, having collaborated with Indonesian artists and led students on cultural exchanges in Europe.

10位視覺創作者 × 5位加拿大音樂人，即興作畫結合現場演出。觀眾不只欣賞音樂，也同步看見漫畫家與插畫家如何「聽音樂作畫」。活動最後他們將逐一分享創作心得，帶來一場別開生面的跨界交流。
10 visual creators × 5 Canadian musicians: live music meets improvised drawing. Audiences not only enjoy the performance, but also watch illustrators and comic artists “draw what they hear.” The session concludes with artists sharing their creative process, offering a unique cross-disciplinary exchange.
