Jess Leung
Born and raised in suburban Toronto among Cantonese and Shanghainese traditions, Jess Leung’s music embraces cozy introspection, heartfelt storytelling, and the influences of her Chinese-Canadian heritage. While honing her skills as a classical pianist and flutist, it was her innate interest in crafting heartfelt lyrics and melodies that has captivated audiences. Inspired by artists like MARO, YEBBA, Angèle, Olivia Dean, and Kacey Musgraves, Jess’ songs are vivid in imagery, soothing in their melodies, and relatable in her melancholic stories of growth and love. With her sweet jazz-tinged voice, Jess invites audiences into a comforting and intimate musical universe, with piano as the foundation for ethereal flutes, strings, and swelling vocal harmonies. Through her lilting and liberating grooves, Jess gently reminds us of the power of embracing our authentic selves and basking in the beauty in the world around us.
