KOWLOON K is an independent band from Hong Kong known for their uptempo music that carries an unbearable lightness. Their songs are bitter pills coated in sugar, healing listeners battered by society.
Their story starts with their name, a pun that sounds like the cantonese word “Kau Kei,” meaning “whatever” or “casuallly”
It’s 5 members face the world with a carefree attitude, but treat music with seriousness. Through their love of Jazz, Canto-pop, and Japanese band-sound, they put together a melting pot of diverse styles to craft remedies for the soul.
In 2024, Kowloon K released their debut album 《叫咩名好？》(What Should We Call It?), a 10-track project that offers a refreshing, down-to-earth take on Canto-pop. Since then, they have been actively bringing the “Kowloon vibe” to international stages: from performing at Zandari Festa in Seoul, South Korea in late 2023, to embarking on their first Taiwan tour in January 2025 (with stops at The Witch House, TCRC, and Paramount Bar). They are now ready to bring their stories of Hong Kong city life to listeners’ ears and hearts worldwide.
Jade Music Fest is grateful to be held on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the Coast Salish peoples of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam Indian Band), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish Nation), and Səl̓ílwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh Nation). We acknowledge our privilege to operate on these lands, and commit to work with and be respectful to the Indigenous peoples whose music and culture encourages us to better listen to each other.
